CMV: Suicide should be respected and accepted as a valid choice within society

No one consents to their birth, and so it stands to reason that on this basis people should be able to freely opt out anytime. The only exceptions I may make to this is, for example, someone who has purposefully created dependants themselves like children that would need looking after in death. Otherwise, people should be able to freely die if chosen as it is “my body, my choice”. The “my body, my choice” correctly and fairly applies to sex, abortion etc and so why can this not be extended to the nature of our own life and whether we continue it or not?

I will also address the issue regarding how suicide makes others around them sad etc as I expect this to be a common rebuttal. There is a sense of entitlement in this view as it demands that someone who does not like living should continue living for the entertainment and benefits of other people. Going back to what I said about sex, this is like saying someone should continue having sex with another person even if they don’t like it because stopping it will make the other person feel upset. If anything if a person really cares about the suicidal individual they should respect and accept the choice of the individual as part of their own autonomy. They should perhaps even be happy that they are relieved from no longer feeling what they deemed to be a big painful existence.

I will leave it here with the information explaining the reasons for my view and will reply as soon as possible to any comments. Thank you in advance for any engagement or comment on the subject matter of my post.
