Birthday dinner for a Chicago chef
My partner is a chicago chef and her birthday is coming up at the end of February. She can cook most things you can get in restaurants (American, Italian, upscale, steak, fish), so when we go out to eat we focus on the experience, exceptional service, ambiance, delicious/unique cocktails, etc.. I’d love to do something like Oriole but the budget for birthday dinner is probably $300 all in. I'm trying to think of nice enough places that won't break the bank but will be a wonderful experience and with food she can't, or wouldn't, normally make. Thinking upscale Asian, traditional French, South American... any ideas?
Additional context: - We want to stay in the city - we live in Wicker. - We’ve been to all the classics: Rose Mary, Brasero, Bistro Monadnock, Loyalist to name a few. - No Hogsalts or steakhouses. Love them but not her bday vibe.
