Has anyone else fallen out of love with the podcast recently?
This isn't a hate post, don't worry. I'm simply trying to figure out if it's a "me" issue, or if it's a pattern shared by others.
I enjoy the trio. Conan, Sona, and Matt are all lovely and I enjoy hearing them chat. That's probably what got me into this podcast. However, I realized today that I haven't heard the podcast in a month or two. Just didn't feel like it. I believe this comes down to guests, and would like reddit's feedback. Has my attitude changed, or has the podcast?
- Guests are not interesting, TO ME: Like I said, I'm here for the trio. Any time with guests is less time with them, so the guests have a high bar to clear in order to get my interest. The issue also becomes with how the interviews go.
- It's too much like his late night show. Conan has been doing the interview gig for decades now, and his questions tend to be very "people pleasing". It has this layer of fakeness and keeping the peace. Every movie is great, he absolutely loved the thing the person is coming to promote, etc.
I enjoy people being silly and having fun. I found myself skipping through ads, then also having to skip through the self promotion interviews, then I just stopped altogether. My question to reddit is: Has the show changed, or am I just in a more cynical mood right now?
Edit: u/gracefire23 reminded me of something huge... Bley, Eduardo, etc! They are also great, and honestly I enjoy hearing from them more than from most celebrities. Seeing Bley go from a shy nerdy guy to one that completely owns it and is living his best life - I wanna hear more from THAT guy!
