How are you all avoiding reinfection?

I wound up with debilitating Long Covid for a period of about 7 months after my first infection in 2022 (33 at the time, fully vaccinated). I’ve kept up with boosters, switched to working remote, don’t eat in restaurants, wear an N95 most everywhere… and I still managed to get Covid again in September. Im not totally sure how but suspect it was a rare in-office day when I pulled the mask down to drink coffee. I resolved to do better about masking, but it’s so hard to socialize for any period of time in the winter without pulling it down to drink. I got a sip valve but that doesn’t really work for coffee or wine.

Well, last weekend me and a trusted friend went to see a play. We both masked with N95s but pulled them down occasionally to take a sip of wine. I figured rates are low right now in my city, but nope, that was all it took. She tested positive the next day, and now I’m feeling sick. I’m so devastated. It seems like keeping a 3M Aura sealed to my face at all times is the only way— no sharing food and drink even for seconds, and maybe no indoor events at all even when it’s too cold to be outside.

I am trying to strategize about how to do this without tanking what remains of my social life (I already avoid parties, bars and restaurants) and my mental health (working alone and living alone is really wearing on me). I ordered a PlusLife and am thinking that may work for having people over my place but I’m so wary now. I want to remain in functional enough health but it always feels like I’m putting my physical health against my mental health, and I’m not sure what to do anymore. How are you all managing? What trade-offs work for you?
