I just discovered my Apple Watch registers as steps the pivot in my wrist when I crochet. 😂

I got back into crochet so that I could have several scarves ready to donate in December for a community collection. That works out since scarves are the only things I can knit and crochet. I finished a knitted scarf project I abandoned nearly two years ago. Then I switched to crochet as those scarves work up faster. I bought my Apple Watch a year and a half ago. This was my first scarf since wearing a fitness tracker. I knew that the watch registers as steps my exercises other than walking. If my arms are moving it counts the movements as steps. But what I did not anticipate was the subtle pivot in my wrist would register as steps. Two days ago I finished this scarf. That was a day of mainly sitting and crocheting. And yet I hit over 17,000 steps. Yesterday was a second mainly sedentary day of crochet and I again went over 17,000 steps. Last night I researched how to recalibrate my watch because I thought that was the source of the inaccuracy. When I woke up this morning it occurred to me two days of inaccurate steps on the days I spent crocheting. I tested it with 20 minutes of crochet and sure enough the watch does not need to be recalibrated; it was registering the wrist movement when I crochet. Now I know to remove my watch before a crochet session.

The scarf shown was made with the Bean Stitch I learned from watching a Hooked by Robin Video. I have a second scarf in the works using the same stitch. For the next one I will try something different. Another easy one. 😉 If you have any suggestions for making a scarf with a one row repeat pass them along. I never really learned to follow written crochet directions. But if there is a video I can generally manage.
