How long does it take to get Cypriot citizenship?

Hi all,

I am currently applying for Cypriot citizenship but as I am based in London I look set to instruct a lawyer to help deal with it on my behalf.

I am speaking to a lawyer in London and they are telling me that it could take 2+ years. They say that this is on the basis that I am a non-Greek applicant (I assume by this they may mean my families links to the TRNC). Part of this also may be down to the fact that they have also requested a lot of documentation. I have provided some but not all as I am not sure if we hold it.

In any case, I have been speaking to another law firm in Cyprus who tells me that usually it would take 6-7 months. When I raised the issue that would my family's links to the TRNC be an issue in the application they said to me they have had a lot of clients who were Turkish Cypriot.

I feel like the law firm in London is just overcomplicating matters and trying to charge a crazy amount but before I tell them that I do not wish to proceed I just wanted to check that my feelings were founded. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me of their experience if possible?

Thanks in advance!
