Why is online so active rn?

So i played dark souls 3 in the past and the multiplayer was dead. Like really dead. After completing ds1 and ds2 i decided to do ds3 now and i get summoned/invaded all the time.

Why is that? Is there something going on?

No matter what i love it to see a playerbase active in an older game.
