should i reach out?

person i was dating ended things and said he is not ready for a relationship. he said he is too individualistic and independent and does not think he is able to take up the responsibility of being a loving or caring partner at the moment. for context, he left a super long term relationship more than a year ago and it was the exact reason that caused them to break up. i accepted the decision without negotiating but still feel regretful and sad that it happened.

edit: should i reach out in far future if i still feel the same?
