Trying to navigate response times with online dating. How long should I wait?

Hi 41F and recently got into online dating. It’s an interesting experience to say the least. I matched with a guy and although we only exchanged about 4 messages (I don’t know anything about him but his profile) today he asked me if I want to meet for drinks on Friday (today is Sunday). I’m trying to be more spontaneous and take a chance. I responded 30 mins later that I would like to meet Friday. We are now 8 hours later and there’s no response. I realize we are all busy and I’ll try to be patient. Seems odd to directly ask someone out and not check for a response. Anyway, how long is reasonable to wait for a reply before Friday (which is when he said he wants to meet)?
