I suck at painting I need tips...

I like the dark camo colors and a lot of rust ..but it doesn't seem to be a hit...and tips on how to get better...I personally feel like it's the spirit and gifts off Nurgle that keep the army and daemon engines running despite the condition and ware...just seems ppl go cross eyed when they see it
