Unpopular (?) opinion - Oneshotting every boss in the game is very boring and takes away incentive to play the game
I've been playing my Leapquake Barb that I have also tried (and miserably failed) to make work last season in T4, and this season Earthquake is very strong. Been following the maxroll guide, got my gear and core build done (Leap cooldown below 4 seconds) but now it feels everything i do is mostly pointless.
I've been doing the season journey to get the Raven, and farming Whispers in T4 feels pretty boring once your character is too strong. I am oneshotting every boss I encounter (even uber bosses) in a fraction of a second - which would be fine if I was maxed out, this should be a build endgoal.
As it stands my gear is good but faaar from perfect. I mostly have 1 GA on my gear, sometimes on a good affix, some on an average affix for my build.
I have no incentive to max out my glyphs, to get better gear, to masterwork everything to 12, to upgrade my affixes to the max or to farm more paragon (currently 206) because literally nothing will change outside of the pit for me. Maybe i can shave off a few milliseconds on a 4-ppl Duriel kill.
My friend whos a bloodwave Necro started oneshotting the bosses way earlier than me.
I understand that with a full core build I'm probably better geared than a lot of players, but I think we have been overbuffed way too much to the point where it's getting boring. I have played every season sicne launch to max level, and I feel like this season I have the least motivation to keep going. I made a Sorc which feels way better in terms of progression, but even on my sorc I can already do T4 after less than 4h of gameplay on him.
I think Blizzards plan with the changes to progression was pretty good, I do recall their livestream and Colin explaining their thought process - Torment jumps should feel meaningful, they dont want us to blast throught T1 to T4 super fast like in D3, T4 should be something to achieve and not everyone should expect to be able to farm T4, only the best of builds.
As it stands now, this philosophy is not found in the game at all and we are at the exact opposite of what they had in mind.
To not just complain but also offer solutions, my suggestions would be to nerf the strongest builds by a ton.
Leveling from 1-60 feels great generally. This season I had a full inventory of legendaries at level 30. Unheard of, please tone back the drops, make legendaries meaningful in the leveling and ancestrals meaningful in late.
Pit 150 should not be something that is achievable, just something to work towards. I'd be happy if at the end of season we have classes hitting like maybe around 140 with their super min maxed builds.
Make Torment levels meaningfull again, you could add T5 or T6 but that would just end up like D3 again where we then end up with T16 and we have even less meaningful torments.
Basically give us some challenges beside the Pit where I can take my super strong character where I dont oneshot everything with a far from maxed build.
Thanks for reading, ended up way longer than I planned.
