KVM over IP

I learned about it a few weeks ago, haven't tried it yet. KVM stands for keyboard, video and mouse, it is a device that plugs into your computer, originally it was created to control multiple computers with one set of KVM. However these days they have KVM over IP devices that can be used to control your computer remotely, down to BIOS level.

My work is such that I have two laptops that I need to carry around everywhere, super bulky and excessive, especially given that I also need my own laptop for all things NSFW.

So I thought, maybe leave both work laptops in a friend's basement in my home country, plug a KVM device into both and just carry my personal one all around? Has anybody tried that?

UPD: I cannot install random software like remote desktop on employer's laptops, so I'm looking for external hardware solutions
