Smaller (and/or e-ink) Fairphone in the future?
I'm new here and have been looking seriously at the Murena Fairphone 4, as a replacement for my 5 year old Pixel 3a here in the US, as I attempt to:
- de-Google,
- embrace sustainability,
- desire longer-term OS/security updates and support, and
- (if possible) have my phone be an ally in reducing screen-time and de-tethering
The main thing that is holding me back is:
The size of the Fairphone 4.
The Pixel 3a is relatively smaller compared to current phones (at least the XL versions), and frankly I'd like to go a little smaller if anything, like no more than 5' or even 4', which is both nicer to carry, hold, and possibly use one-handed, in addition to helping reduce screen-time by making watching video and scrolling less attractive. I can hardly imagine lugging around, using, and having something the size of the FP4 in my pocket.
Also, there is the idea of e-ink screens
As e-ink improves, including with color, its attractiveness is four-fold to me:
- less energy consumption (which I imagine goes with the sustainability ethic of FP),
- easier to reduce screen time by making all that video watching less attractive,
- easier to read in bright light outdoors, and
- easier on the eyes
So, my questions of folks here are:
- Would you embrace a smaller FP
- Would you embrace a (color) e-ink FP, and
- Do you know of and/or what is the likelihood of either of these things happening with FP anytime in the future?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and responses!
