What is an example of a completely pointless cover?

At my job the radio likes to play a cover of Steve Winwood's "Higher Love" by some indie pop band named JR JR. And all this cover does is it takes the original and makes it sound like corporate/advertisement background music. It doesn't add anything new or unique to the song, it's almost like a recreation of the original except without the soulful vocals of both Steve and the backing singers and the fun, lively 80s production; it's just… pointless. It's one thing to try to reinterpret a song in a radically different way and have it come out badly, it's another thing to play a song pretty much the same as the original, except just making it sound more soulless. So what are some other examples of this?
