You prefere Turn-Based or Real-Time City Builder? And why?
Hi all,
I have an idea for a city builder. Its a bit more about managing a city that exists rather than building city from ground. It also is a bit more arcady and it will have rogue-like elements in the sense that the player has to pay a debt with everything they earn with the city. The moment they can not pay the bank, the loose and have to start.
I now can not really decide if it should be turn-based or real-time. I am looking here for advices and tipps to be able to create a pros and cons list. What kind of pros and cons each version have for you? What you more enjoy playing?
I have tested the idea with a prototype as a turn-based game and as a real-time game. Both feel a bit different but both work very well.
While i like the feel of the real-time game a bit more because everything feels alive, the turn-based version works also well because it feel a bit more strategic. The game will be a bit more about the population of the city as well.
