Best and worst shopping experiences?

So I just came from a shopping session in Italy and I was blown away by how the SAs treated me here. All the SAs were very accommodating, nice, and very helpful.

For context I live in the Philippines where bag prices are outrageous so I do most of my bag shopping abroad, and honestly the experience wasn't always good. I also don't dress up when traveling because I prefer comfort over fashion lmao so I guess I get profiled easily.

My worst would be the UK. A few years ago shopping in London, it was very hard to get sales associates to help us even if the boutique was visibly not busy. We went to Ferragamo and it took so many questions before an SA helped us. Like my husband just wanted to try on some shoes. When one SA realized we were really there to purchase, she suddenly became very accommodating. In hindsight I wish we didn't buy but my husband really wanted a pair.

Same in Valentino. And LONGCHAMP. Like you're Longchamp, why are you so snobbish? In Prada they weren't as bad but I felt they were trying to push each other on who would help us because the SAs kept staring at each other before finally a guy approached us.

The only helpful store was Furla. We bought three bags because we enjoyed our time there.

In Japan it's a mixed bag. In Loewe an SA was very helpful and accommodating, helping me try on different styles. In the end I felt bad not buying anything because she was so nice lol. SAs in department stores like Daimaru are also helpful. However in LV, the SA there was quite snobbish. It was a one question, one answer kind of behavior. I still bought from them because I really wanted the YK bag but it was honestly so annoying. Also I noticed that we were the only couple not offered refreshments while everyone else had lmao. Although we were the only non-Japanese there so I don't know if they were being slightly racist.

In Switzerland what I've noticed is that luxury shops have designated Asian SAs and for some reason they always assign Asian SAs to us. This happened in most luxury shops we visited. Do Asians do a lot of shopping in Switzerland? I don't mind because they were so helpful but it was kinda amusing. There would be an SA who would initially assist us then tell us their colleague might be able to help more and then they walk away and come back with their Asian colleague. It's not like we speak the same language though because some of the SAs were Japanese and some were Chinese lol.

Rome is the BEST experience I've had so far. No one being snobbish, everyone helpful and nice. Is it because a lot of tourists do shopping here? We went to Ferragamo in Rome and the SA and I even chatted about some movies and vacation places. They're so friendly! In all the boutiques I visited, they were so ready to assist and they even gave styling advice. Walked away with a Loewe and Delvaux as a result lol and my husband had another Ferragamo haul. After this I never want to shop anywhere else but Rome.

One funny thing in Rome is how the Celine SA was brutally honest about their bags. I was trying on the 16 and she asked me what I wanted to use it for because she said the leather wears very easily lmao. She said the same thing for the Triomphe, and how people complain about the scratches.

Sorry it got long lol but I guess I just wanted to rant a bit.

Edit: I wasn't able to reply to everyone but it's so interesting to read all your experiences! Really sucks that there are a lot of us who have had bad encounters. :(
