Did Stephen fry do a German accent for Karkaroff

I'm currently listening through all the Harry Potter books on audible and noticed something in the goblet of fire, spoken by Stephen fry.

When Stephen tried to do Karkaroffs Bulgarian accent...it sounds more like a German accent.

This is no critic, I just think it's funny from a German (and a bit Bulgarian) speaking perspective. Did anyone else notice something like that?:)
