Do you EQ your HD800S?
Half a year ago I got a mint pair for $700USD and I love em, wish I got them sooner but for a decade my HD650s with a tube amp were excellent. I prefer solid state for the HD800S cuz of the superior imaging. Anyway I listened to some familiar tracks like Billie Jean and Don't You Want Me and switched to Oratory1990's EQ and never looked back. Well until I forgot to turn it on and didn't realize. The Mercurial World album by Magdalena Bay still sounded great, I remember that the bass seemed a bit lean yet in line with the EQ's. The EQ's treble is fatigue free but stock is never sibilant just more present. Overall with the EQ it sounds more correct, like a pair of floorstanding speakers so that's my preference. I'm assuming the Sennheiser engineers are older than me and less sensitive to treble so tweaking the settings doesn't feel like sacrilege or something. The tonality differences are small enough to chock it all up to personal preference. I wanna hear some opinions on this.
