Did you have to remove your piercings?

I know I can ask my surgeon, but I won’t see him for a couple of weeks. I’m scheduled for surgery in March. I have a bunch of ear piercings, including a daith that’s only 6 months old and I have no idea how to change. Did they make you remove your piercings for this surgery? My piercer said they can put a spacer in, but advised getting the real earring back in ASAP after surgery. I’d love to avoid the hassle of going back to my piercer, especially before I can drive.

I think I can get retainers in by myself for everything else, but I know I can’t get the daith in without help.
