[IIL] In & Out - Funny, cheerful gay-themed movie that's not a romcom, WEWIL?
Nothing against romcom, but... I'd like to watch gay or lesbian comedy that doesn't follow a romcom scheme.
Something like In and Out! (So funny, I love that movie)
There is some romance but it's not the main aspect of the plot, there is irony over gay life and pop culture but it's never offensive about it, and although some heavier issues might be brought up (coming out, internalised homophobia) it's never too dramatic or pessimistic.
Another film that comes to mind that I have watched is But I'm a Cheerleader. I've also watched DEBS although I consider it to be more on the romcom side.
Movies like Pride are very welcome too - more serious and political topic but still not too dark in tone, optimistic, and not tragic.
Darker comedy is fine too, along with not strictly comedies, as long as the gay aspect is relevant to the plot (along with the other points I've mentioned). Not interested in stand-up comedy and the likes.
Non-American and/or Non-Western recs are much appreciated.
Thank you very much!!
