I freehand knit a chalk bag for rock climbing/bouldering
Created this for my partner’s birthday. It has a circular base using the pi method, a felt lining, a bungee cord with toggles for sealing the bag and attaching to a belt or belt loops and an icord with a toggle for adjusting the opening.
Knit using DK weight sock yarn - Colour Lab from West Yorkshire spinners in “The Rock” with some craft felt crudely sewn into a cylinder shape for the lining.
I knit it on very undersized 2.75mm and 2.25mm needles to make it really dense and stand up by itself. My partner took it to bouldering and it completely does the job, so pleased!
Tempted to write up a free pattern as there isn’t a similar one in DK weight or with quite the construction techniques I wanted to use. Fairly quick knit and such a good gift
