Very patchy cool season zone lawn. Grass appears to be perennial ryegrass? Any recommendations?

New here! Just moved into a new home about a month ago, and it is very patchy in the front (first picture) and somewhat patchy in the back (second picture). Also in the backyard there seems to be various types of turf. I’m thinking full nuke in the fall and laying down some good KBG seed. Any thoughts on this? Would it be a waste of time to go full nuke?
