Why Pahadis on reddit suddenly became extremely racist and kinda far right.

Someone asked this question here and all the answers to him were kinda hilarious. Some were thinking this wave is based on Sanghis. So I wanted to make a post about it.

First of all the hate that you are seeing nowadays is not something new. Hill people had been extremely tribal for a lot of time by now.

I am also a Pahadi though not racist like these people. What I can understand is that many Uttarakhandis have a sense of betrayal. I think a lot of it start from 1971 when Pahadi people's ST status was abrogated by UP government. Yes, Pahadis had ST status since British Raj and then it was rolled back as the community is somewhat richer than other marginalized populations. Then when Chipko movement started, it was repressed by the government, Tehri dam displaced an entire historical city. Mandal commission also impoverished many people in hills as there are little amount of native Pahadi OBCs in Uttarakhand. This sparked mass protests for statehood that were met with shootings.

Since then, every single issue in the state has been pinned on UP/Bihar people. Water crisis? UP/Bihar people doing it. Infrastructure breakdown, again UP/Bihar people. BJP capitalized on it by using Muslim as euphemism for UP/Bihar people. Most Pahadi Sanghis I am aware of, see UP/Bihar Hindus as atleast half Muslims😂, yes I have seen some people use this term Half Muslim.

People on reddit are not extremist, I mean they are but their ideology is not considered extreme by most pahadis in Uttarakhand. It is just that Pahadis are not skilled in politics so a lot of their views are not properly reflected in state's policies. Our people are more concerned on the caste of CM, Rajputs who are 35% of state population want their CM and Brahmins who are 20% of state population want their CM. When Uttarakhand was made many non Pahadi majority districts were also pushed into Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand faced 3 delimitations, in 2002, 2004, 2008. All decreased Pahadi regions say in government. This is also hated as Jharkhand who became a state in the same date as Uttarakhand faced only 1 delimitation.

So in Pahadi people's mind, the momentum is that they are becoming minority in their state and their representation is going down fast. In my opinion a simple solution to this is that, Pahadis should end this caste BS and unite as an ethnicity, support ICM atleast among their own hill dwellers and focus on tangible issues. Power and water shortage in Uttarakhand is common even though this state export power and water alike to Delhi. Recently a video got viral on SM from current CM(Dhami)'s own village area where 9th class girls have to do this to reach school.

These dumb pahadi redditors will do everything but to tell their parents to vote for a local party who does not appeal to just one caste. Pahadis can easily do a lot of things in their state, IF they actually vote for it without having caste in mind but god forbid you tell them this.
