Ex came back after 2 years.
Long story short, my ex had given me a laptop as a gift that I now use for work. It's been two to three years now (2021) and out of nowhere today, she suddenly texted me asking for it back (it's either I give it back or give her money for it).
She claims that she paid 5k for it but according to the receipt, it's 4.3k - and she's asking to settle for 3.5k-4k.
Imo this isn't much different from scamming and I don't like how she's treating me like a storage keeper or something. Also, I don't think I'm obliged to pay right, because I took it under the assumption that it is a gift and if I knew this would happen, I wouldn't accept it in the first place. Her dad is a d*to so I'm just being extra cautious. But I also know that I did nothing wrong bc she bought it on her own discretion and out of her own will, her excuse to me now is that "she bought it using her own savings" which is frankly not my problem. She could've also asked for it back when we broke up but she didn't and blocked me everywhere.
My question is, what are the chances of me kena-ing something if she was to file a report? As far as I know, my friend told me usually 5K below people won't really bother. But if that is the case, is there anything else that I should prepare? Took it to repair after a year and I have screenshots of my conversation with the shop saying that I was no longer in contact with the person that bought it since I've accepted it as a gift , and the repair receipt has my number on it. I also have screenshots from 2021 (from Instagram stories) of me receiving it as a gift.
TLDR: Ex gave me a laptop as a gift, wants it back and if I don't wanna give, she's asking for payments after 3 years.
Edit: I'm also a woman myself.
Edit 2: Sorted out, gave her a piece of my mind and blocked her everywhere. Just wanted to say thank you all for taking your precious time to read this and for being so patient with me over something quite trivial haha. I really appreciate it!
