OAUG Honest Review

After almost a month of the release of the album, it is the shortest Marilyn Manson album to date with just 9 songs!

Honestly the deepcuts like Death Is Not a Costume, No Funeral Without Applause and the title track are some of example of signature songs from Marilyn Manson's style. Being fair, I don't think that Tyler Bates's other writting for Marilyn Manson understood him as well as he did with this new album, you can feel how those three songs feel fresh and "dense", almost like it came from Holy Wood sessions.

But I also have to say that Sacrilegious is some of worst tracks I've heard in the name of Marilyn Manson, the synths sound cheesy and some of it sounds flight of a fly and not in a good way. The lyrics are fine, but not impressive. Sacrilegious just feels like OAUG's The Beautiful People format, like Manson has been doing for almost every album since ACSS, it worked for Rock Is Dead and somewhat for Disposable Teens, but NOT with that track with all due respect.

Also Raise of The Red Flag had the potential, all works perfectly until the chorus come on, the line "It's time to beat up the bullies and wash the bullseye off my back" feels weird to the point of giving me Highschool feels from mid 2000s. Which is sad being honest because the verses and the pre-chorus were so good for the chorus not doing justice for it.

I noticed in this sub that both Meet Me On The Purgatory and Nod If You Understand were both the most least liked songs of the Record, which surprised me tbh.

The Purgatory song is more similar to the style of what he did on WAC, so it was expected that not many would be this as their favorite track; I really appreciated the 80s rock influences from this one.

I think that Nod If Your Understand is the most underrated song from the Record, many missunderstood this song as the "angry" track, however this song is more into the punk roots of his cover of 1995's Rock N Roll N!gger, which the sound to my ears lead into a fun anger rather than the average 'angry rock' sound. Very underrated sound imo, although not my favorite
