Does anyone enjoy marketing?

I'm a student who's spent three years studying it and potentially have another year still to go, but the more I see anyone talking about it the more scared I get because I feel I only ever seen anyone saying it's hard to get into and then it's soul destroying or boring or draining once they get there. It's scaring the crap out of me.

I'd say I'm a creative person who wanted to study something that would be lucrative but still have potential to lead onto more creative roles in advertising and marketing campaigns. I thought I was on the right path but now I'm worried I've made a huge mistake. I am trying to get shadow opportunities to have a peak at real life marketing because I'm told education is nothing like the real world. I just feel very ill prepared and scared of the sector I'm about to try and get into.

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there with positive stories? People glad they got into it or advice for more creative marketers?
