The destroy ending wasn't originally meant to be space magic
So i just discovered that in 2021 chris hepler who was a writer and de facto lore master on mass effect 3 explained that his idea for how the crucible worked was it released a strong nuclear force which destroyed objects with high atomic numbers which the reapers, husks and shepards implants are meant to be comprised of. The only reason they didn't include the full explanation in the game was that it was pretty much fully copied from probability moon a 2000 sci-fi book and they where worried about potentially being sued. This is a massive relief for me as i am not a fan of space magic and can now use this to happily rationalize the ending but it also adds an interesting probability that if shepard survived they would be left heavily physically disabled since 30% of there body is implants.
Do other people like this explanation as much as me or are not really that into it? I could see other people not really enjoying it and if so id love to hear why 😊
