Stick shift drivers - what’s your record?
I’m asking in the Mazda group because, let’s face it, Mazda used to be one of the brands that attracted the manual transmission crowd. And because I’m asking regarding my 2016.5 CX-5, 2.0 engine with a 6 speed manual.
I have just shy of 145K on my odometer and I’m still on my original factory clutch. This absolutely SHATTERS my old personal record; when I was young I drove nothing but stick shift cars (cable clutches) and I think my record was about 90-100k before a clutch replacement. But I also bought those cars used, whereas I bought this one brand new with 25 miles on the clock.
My question is, obviously all clutches wear out over time. Mine has yet to show one bit of wear, the clutch still engages about an inch off the floor just like the day I bought it.
So anybody got a sense of what the average lifespan of a modern hydraulic clutch kit is? Anybody wanna brag about getting 175K or 200K out of an original factory clutch? More?
