Part 3 of Function Debunking here.

I admit this post is gonna be a bit "biased" as I'm as ISTP myself. I must advocate for my dominant function types as never before, in that we're both kinda misunderstood (not necessarily in a "emotional sense") as IxFPs (next Debunking topic soon).

"INTPs and ISTPs feel no emotions"

False.

We're humans as every other personality type is. Cognitive functions are, indeed, cognitive. They determine the way we approach ourselves and the world around us. It has nothing to do with how good we are at talking to people or how emotional we are. Aside from specific clinical cases, every single human has got feelings and emotions. This redundant misconception comes from a bad interpretation of cognitive slots. Yes, both INTPs and ISTPs have Introverted Feeling (Fi) as their Demon Function, but that means something different. Fi Demon is basically like "Having a great treasure inside of you and pretending it doesn't exist because others' are worth more". This is how I'd define it.

"INTPs and ISTPs aren't capable of getting things done."

False.

Extroverted Thinking (Te) is considered by most of people to be responsible for organising things, getting the job done and accomplishing goals. Well, no suprise, as Ti doms, we basically do the same thing except the point where it diverges from the Extroverted counterpart is that we have to see things through, understand the problem deeply before taking action and, differently from Te-doms, we do not feel beholden to other people when "getting ours things done". We're said not to be ambitious, but the thing is, we're not lazy or lacking ambition, but we simply don't get swayed away by society's standards.

"INTPs and ISTPs never listen to anybody."

False.

We're able to accept external suggestions or opinions if they sound reasonable to us. Unfortunately, many IxTPs are too immature to understand that people do not want us to "be their slaves", but our mindset (and I often adopt it) is "All or nothing", so either we stick 100% to ourselves and close our ears to everything else or we behave like unhealthy people pleasers and lose our indentity. If you analyse our stack, we have Te as the Opposing/Nemesis function, and it can be described as "I see what your opinion/suggestion about this thing is, I'm just gonna pre-dismiss it unless you prove it is logically sound (to me)".

All this debunking activity is also for ENTPs and ESTPs, who are Ti-aux users. Feel free to write in the comments what you think about these stereotypes and what opinion/relationships you have with Ti doms.
