Anyone know anything about a career as a Wound care physician?

I have always thought wound care was a job for a retired surgeon but a FM doc came and talked at my school about how there is a growing number of PCPs going into this field, since a lot of the wounds are related to diabetes. My roommate did a rotation with a PMR doc that practices wound care part time also. Anyways does anyone know how to avoid Surgery and navigate a way into this position? I really think hyperbarics is cool and it seems they do a lot of minor procedures.
