Best/Most Authentic Italian joint?
What the title says. Wanna hear from fellow Melbournites what the overall consensus is by locals as to the best most authentic Italian joint.
To CLARIFY:
Not talking super fancy restaurants, I’m talking rustic Italiana, either family or take away or even just hole in the wall.
The kind of stuff that your Nonna/Nonno made.
Franchise joints aren’t excluded but extra points for family owned locations.
Can be in anywhere, any suburb of Melbourne, I’m not talking hidden gems to a specific 1km circumference but overall gems that most Melbournians would know.
I put to you for my own entry into this to kick things off: either Sofia’s in Burnwood, Leo’s spaghetti bar or Cicciolina in St Kilda.
Would love to be proven wrong or one upped!
Ps: I am a white southern man from southern USA and closer to Scottish in ancestry than anything else. Not the least bit Italian. Just love the food and have several Italian/Australian mates.
