New to cups

I got the flex cup size 1 and I don’t know what the issue is but it sticks out a tiny bit. I can’t put it in much higher so is this user error? Also my cramps have been awful with it in. Are the flex cups just too firm? And if so does anyone have any alternatives for soft ones? Thank you.
