Has anyone successfully gotten a permit to cut their curb and extend driveway?

We live in a semi-detach (single car garage). We have a little paved driveway extension that lets us park 2 cars side by side. The problem is that the car on the extension cannot (safely) get out or in because of the curb. Widening the driveway by like 2ft would solve this issue for us.
