What's with all the Heathers UK lyric and line changes?

I saw the Heathers UK tour recently, as someone who's been a fan since the original off-Broadway production did the internet rounds in the early-mid 2010s.

I was a little put off by the line and lyric changes, as well as slightly sad 'Blue' has disappeared entirely rather than been amended, but was willing to go with it.

However, the kicker for me was how there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to what's been changed and what hasn't. Some of it is clearly to make it more tween-friendly (whether we agree with this or not is for another time), but then why is "let's get naked in my pool" cut out when "I've decided I must ride you 'til I break you" has been left in? Why is it okay to joke about suicide but not rolling a joint?

Does anyone know what's happened here?
