Late 70s New Wave or 80s New Wave?

So New Wave has a lot of very well known songs made during the 1980s and was more popular during the 1980s, but it was being produced during the 1970s. What sub-era of the New Wave era is your favourite, the 1970s or the 1980s?

1970s New Wave bands: Blondie, Talking Heads, Tubeaway Army, B52s, etc. Key songs of 70s New Wave: Heart of Glass, Psycho Killer, Life During Wartime, Are Friends Electric, Rock Lobster

1980s New Wave bands: Simple Minds, the Human League, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, New Order, A-ha, Pet Shop Boys, etc Key songs of 80s New Wave: Don’t You (Forget About Me), Don’t You Want Me, Hungry Like the Wolf, People Are People, Age Of Consent, Take On Me, West End Girls

What do you guys prefer? I prefer the 70s myself, because the genre seems to be more out there and less established during that time, bringing in more genres. A great example of this is the Talking Heads, who incorporated art punk into their first album, and by 1980 had incorporated afrobeat, funk, and disco. A great example of the lack of diversity during the 1980s is the Human League, who, with the exception of their first two albums, a one off disco single, and the stellar song “The Lebanon”, they mostly stuck to the same format.
