Problems of a house divided

Grew up with parents going to UK & UT. Obviously Tennessee was my main school. At the beginning of the marriage it was decided, football is always Tennessee, basketball is always Kentucky. Just because that’s the sport each of my parents favored and luckily was their best.

The thing is, Tennessee got every sport except men’s basketball. That doesn’t change that my wardrobe has a lot of both Tennessee and Kentucky.

Today, I look for what to wear and the Kentucky tank top is much more comfortable than the Tennessee one. I grab it, only to remember that I need Kentucky to lose today for us to win the SEC title. I’m grieving wearing the shirt and having to choose something else, but I just can’t in good conscience wear that today.

And yes, my dad overturned the no Tennessee basketball rule when they got good, so my mom pretends to care about Kentucky football when they are good, but would NEVER say anything if they win and actually avoids him to let him deal with the loss and not think about it.

Go VOLS! And beat the Commodore’s ass! (Seriously glad no one in my house is a Vandy fan)
