Kevin Brown and Ben McDonald

These guys are fantastic. Wonderful storytellers, better chemistry (although they have virtually nothing personally in common with one another - it just clicks).

The way they tell the stories of our unheralded, outperforming “journeymen” (in quotes b/c many are still young) is exceptional.

Take last nights story on Mateo in the 9th inning. Ben McDonald noticed Jorge call time to calm down Bautista, who had just lets two batters on with 1 out. Ben recalls this is the second mound visit from Mateo this game, a role historically claimed by Odor, whom was out of the lineup.

Ben proceeds to bring up Jorge’s maturity and growth as, not just a player but, a leader. Noting a story from Spring Training where Brandon Hyde called Jorge in his office to tell him he was his starting SS, for certain.

Ben (beautifully) portrayed how much of a relief it was for Jorge to finally get the trust of his Manager. How it has shown up in his development, and how it has translated to the field.

This season has been magical. Ben and Kevin have helped.
