How can i upgrade my pc (Help:)
Help Needed: Upgrading My 2021 Gaming PC for Better Performance and AM5 Transition
Hey everyone,
I’m hoping to get some advice on upgrading my current gaming PC, which I built around 2021 (specs below). I’m starting to experience delays and frame drops in some games, even on lower settings—Minecraft, for instance, struggles to run smoothly, and it’s affecting my overall gaming experience.
My Goals for This Upgrade:
Transition to AM5: I’m considering moving to the AM5 platform for better future-proofing and compatibility with the latest CPUs.
Smooth Gameplay at Higher Settings: I want to make the most of my AOC 1080p 240Hz monitor and achieve smoother frame rates and higher graphics settings for a better gaming experience.
Budget: I’ve got around $300 extra to spend on top of my PC amount I will get if i sell it which i think is around 750$ (idk), so I’m looking for a balanced, cost-effective upgrade that doesn’t need to be top-of-the-line but should run most games comfortably.

-Current Specs: (added pics to show pc) CPU - Ryzen 5 5600x (2020) GPU - RTX 3060ti Msi (its daisy chained) Mobo - Msi gaming edge wifi b550 RAM - corsair 16x2GB 3600mhz Cooler - Lianli galiadh 360aio (new) PSU - Corsair cx750f rgb
- Monitor: AOC 1080p, 240Hz
- Main Game: Fortnite (I mainly play Fortnite and would love to explore other games too, but Fortnite is my go-to for now;)
Questions I Need Help With:
Should I upgrade just my motherboard, CPU, and RAM to AM5 and keep the rest of my components the same?
Would it be better to sell my current PC and look for a second-hand setup on Marketplace within my budget?
Is AM5 worth the investment for my goals, or should I stick with an AM4 setup to maximize my budget?
