Stream to TV without duplicating display?

Right now I have my main monitor duplicated to my TV so my gf can watch me play. But since they are different resolutions, there are some bugs while playing games. Is there any way to locally stream onto another display or is the best way just to do a private YouTube/twitch stream and put it on the tv
