Is there a difference between the simple, primitive and advanced forge/kiln/furnace?

Beside the material required, is there any difference? The tooltip suggests the more primitive ones can craft less, but as this is unstable, I don't know how accurate that is. Obviously I want to skip as many steps as I can, to get the best one possible right away.
