Special Consideration and Course Transfer from Unimelb (ATAR vs Wam)
Hi, looking for advice with course transfer. I am currently a biomedicine student at unimelb, but have realized its not really what I want to study during my undergraduate. My Atar was 97.5, but because of extenuating personal circumstances (a parent relapsed on substances and nearly died, my family split up, and I was living apart for them for the first time, on top of other mental health issues) I struggled a lot and my wam this year was pretty low at 64.5. I didn't fail any subjects, just scored low, so I don't think I was eligible for fee remission. I applied for a course transfer to science, thinking my atar would get me in, but it did not, which makes sense after speaking to stop 1.
Does anyone have any advice on my situation? Is there anyway unimelb or another institution would take my personal circumstances into account and accept me based on my atar? I didn't write a personal statement, but the stop 1 advisor I spoke to gave me the vibe that they don't really consider them that much.
I understand why I didn't get accepted, but it's just a pretty frustrating situation and really rubs salt into the wound for this crappy crappy year.
For further context, this is my first year, and I have taken 62.5 credits (50 of which impacted my wam).
