I first put this post on Reddit almost 2 years ago, but I try to refresh it every year to make sure it gets the exposure that it deserves. We've gotten a pretty good response of people who have joined our Slack and they have said that they never knew something like the RVA Dev Slack existed. Also a great place to learn about local, IN PERSON, tech meetups and local conferences.

I wanted to share that the RVA Dev Slack Community is now 100% fully inclusive. Previously, we sent out invites to specific people that had wanted to join. If you are not familiar with Slack, it is similar to Reddit but is more of a real-time conversation and is more technology focused. Local programmers, developers, and other tech professionals would benefit from being a part of our community. It's a great place to post a job or look for a job in our hiring-looking channel and it's a great place to learn more about many of the local meetups and local or regional conferences for technical folks.
