Considering transition to SE from Product Management

As the title states, I'm looking to transition to a different role in tech from product. SE is one of the roles I've shortlisted.

I've been working in product for ~10 years, currently a senior PM at a B2B SaaS and have working in AI/ML products nearly that entire time. Rather technical, I've written some personal software projects in Python, worked on some hack week projects, write SQL, know LLMs well, and am currently pursuing a masters in CS.

I'm curious what y'all like about your role, what you don't like, and how you would rate your stress level in your job on a scale from 1 (least) to 10 (most).

I'm also curious about any "gotchas" with SE roles you've encountered throughout your career. The role sounds relatively fun relative to product, at least from the outside looking in. I would love to get your insights so I can make a better decision on the future of my career!
