Call from a 'sumup rep' offering lower rates and free card machine - legit?

So my wife has her own small business and yesterday she got a call from a regular mobile phone number from a guy saying he was from sumup (who my wife uses) and was based in the local area. He said he could offer to change her account to have a lower % fee, and also he has lots of free card machines - even the nicer/more expensive touch screen ones, and if they catch up for 'a coffee' he can give her one.

This all seems extremley strange to me, on the face of it, it seems like a scam, but how would he know where she is based and my wife also said he knew how much money she had coming into her account.

Seems a very weird way for sumup to conduct business if it was one of their guys, but this just smells fishy?
