Being present (help me understand)

I red The book "The Power of now" by Eckhart Tolle, so even better If you have red that too, so that you know what I'm talking about.

In The book it's said that being present is The only way to get rid of suffering. That past and future is basicly a minds Illusion. I understand future, it's not happened yet and it's only minds speculation on what might maybe happen. But past has happened in earlier now and leaves memories.

What do you think about memories? If The goal is being present as much as possible, do you intentionally remember The good memories still?

I have a hard time on understanding what's The point on doing anything that you don't currently love to prevent future consequences or for The future present moment to be enjoyable. What's The point on for example living healthy If it causes The now to be not so enjoyable?

I have a lot to learn and want to understand The consept of being present. I know and have experienced how it helps a lot. But I still want to have good goals and plan for The future. Hope you can help!
