An appeal to removing the "IRL Subnautica" subrule.
Ok so here's my view: 1. It violates Rule 1 "All posts must be subnautica related" but the IRL post are very much Subnautica related! Its literally looking at the world around us and saying "wow this reminds me of the video game I'm obsessed with." What could be more subnautica related? 2. Also, the first line of this rule is Subnautica easter eggs in other games are okay? But not IRL easter eggs? What could be cooler than an IRL easter eggs?? Ever looked at a manta ray and think wow, thats a irl ghost ray. 3. They are interesting posts. I love learning about new wildlife and all the interesting critters out there. Dont we all? I think these posts are directly in line with the spirit of the subnautica community: exploration and discovery. 4. Lots of these IRL animals and places very possibly and very likely inspired the devs in their creation of this world we all love so dearly. Think about it. They didn't come up with a gasopod from nowhere. What about all the bioluminescence? The different corals? The leviathan designs? These all take deeply from the natural world. It's fun to look at something and think "hmm the devs of subnautica probably knew about this."
I have said my peace. I just think we need to seriously consider the validity of this rule. If a mod can explain a good reason this exists, I am open to listening but for now, it just seems unneccessarily "moddy"
