Unpopular opinion
Hey,
I love the game so far. I've been looking forward to play it for months (I skiped the beta) and I have to admit that they didnt let my hopes down.
Now, hear me out, the game sure is not perfect, but it's an mmo, it's meant to stay and evolve for years, decades maybe. It's been out for a day now, give them time to adress and fix what has to be fixed. Note that I am a mobile player so I will judge and compare it on that basis.
I played (and still play) many mmos on pc, but I've been desperate to find a good mobile mmo that keeps me interested overtime (I played Dofus Touch, Diablo Immortal and Albion, all three good games but I ended up moving on).
Now about Tarisland,
What I liked:
-the combat system
-the role switch and how they implemented it
-the overall visuals and fx
-the big scale pvp, a bit similar to Albion (in a smaller measure)
-soundtrack
-boss mechanics (very similar to ESO for what I have test at this point)
-the "special tasks", I've done one where you had to move storage boxes, it was puzzle-like and was interesting concept that you usually dont see in mmos.
-monetization didnt felt too invasive for the most part if you exclude jobs, which lead me to...
... What I don't like:
-how the jobs are handled in general (the energy stuff, similar to Albion, sucks as // 1 job per character only sucks ass too)
-character creation
-no visual upgrade upon leveling
-time gated shit
-storyline quests are a too easy and Fedex imo. Not fun at all (it's often the case in mmos tho, but some are bit more inventive and try to make them at least less unpleasant, which is not the case here)
-Way too many currencies, comon it's just a big mess.
If you think about it, the game has a solid base to build on. Most of the cons are clearly easily adressed (and will hopefully be), stuff like character personalization, time gated stuff and job will probably be improved overtime.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I like the game so far. Pardon my tipos Im on mobile.
