Chemical engineering

Hi. I am currently a first year engineering student and I have put my first discipline choice as chemical engineering but I am just wondering if chemical engineering is a good field of study. I really enjoyed chemistry and the classes in chem engg seems pretty fun but I just don't know what I can do as a chemical engineer in the future because I really do not want to work in the oil and sand construction place. What other jobs options are there for chemical engineer and is chem engg a good discipline to choose?
