Deferred from UIC CS 😭 (Vent, you can ignore!)

Hi I'm just here to vent!

I'm an in-state applicant with a 4.3 GPA and a 33 ACT (not superscored), highest course rigour possible, ranked in thestate for Debate, have done research at Harvard, numerous debate awards, etc etc and I was deferred😭😭 My essays were p good too 😭 I know my stats are not the highest or most competitive for engineering, but I genuinely thought I was okay for UIC CS at least.

I mean I know why I was deferred- my grades are kinda shit especially compared to my peers; specifically in my Sophomore year I got 4 C's due to medical extenuating circumstances + B's in ALOT of STEM classes and I'm actually kicking myself bc UIC CS was supposed to be a Likely and I got deferred 😭

I know it's not the end of the world but this is making me incredibly stressed out for other schools and I've lowkey accepted my fate. My other schools aren't CS but they're engineering related and as my friend put it, I'm competing against the "CS rejects" since it's their second choice major.

Just needed to get this out somewhere and I hope this doesn't come off too pretentious. It's just I, my family, and my peers have certain expectations for myself yk and I can't help comparing myself to my friends who are T20 bound😭😭
