r/WoW and Reddit Gold
Hi, r/WoW
As users saw last month, Reddit removed the existing award system for posts and comments. Last week they unveiled their replacement with this post.
We do not see a way around implementing this system as Reddit will eventually force it onto all subs, so we have agreed to pilot the program. This is not out of excitement or endorsement, moreso that we want to be ready for how it might change engagement on our sub, and so we are given the opportunity to submit feedback about it to Reddit. One of the main differences with the return of Reddit Gold is that it brings the Contributor Program with it. This is the main portion of the new Gold program that we are most hesitant with, and want to assure you we will be careful to watch for accounts trying to exploit the new system by stealing and reposting content.
We also encourage y’all to leave feedback below, as users, so that we can share this post with admins during the trial period. Please keep in mind that, while we are encouraging honest feedback, the rules of the sub still apply to this post - no personal attacks, no hate speech, etc…
Anyways, TL;DR: new Gold program has been turned on for r/WoW, will enable users to make (a marginal amount of) real-life money and Reddit to make (a non-marginal amount of) real-life money. Give us feedback and we’ll give Reddit feedback.
